One of my very favorite books that Mommy and Daddy read to me all the time is called "Hug" by Jez Alborough. You should buy it, it's great.
They read it to me all the time, and there is a part in the middle where they get all excited and say "BoBo!" while bouncing me on their knee and squeezing me tight. It has to do with a monkey or something, I don't know. I laugh politely, but have been meaning to tell them for quite some time that they were saying it wrong.
Two weeks ago, I decided to tell them about their mispronunciation. So, when we got to that part of the book and Daddy did his little song and dance about "BoBo", I corrected him. I said, "Daddy, it clearly says "DODO", not "BOBO" Duh!". Though, I guess it came out as "D'oh... D'oh".
Dad thought this was monumental, so he called Mommy into the room and we had to repeat the whole routine. What's the big deal? It's only words! They acted like I've never spoken before, when I quite clearly remember telling them lots of things. Like the time I said "This AC/DC song is so very derivative. I vastly prefer their earlier work." Maybe they need to clean out their ears.
Since that day, I've been dumbing down my vocabulary a bit so they can understand what I'm saying. Now, I'm slipping in a "Mommy" here and a "Dada" there. Mommy seemed a little sad that I was saying "Dada" to Daddy so often, so now I call everything "Dada", from my water bottle to the dog to a roll of toilet paper. All of them are "Dada" until she gets over it.
Then, I'll switch to saying Mommy and she'll likely wish I hadn't after a while.
Oh, and there's some news about a little brother showing up in August. He'll have some learning to do - this is MY house, we play by MY rules, pal.

9 Month pictures
A few weeks ago, Mommy and Daddy got all dressed up and took me to see a picture lady. She had a really cold garage with big black and white curtains, and a really big fancy camera. I kept trying to get to it so I could eat it, but it was always just out of reach.
Mommy and Daddy and the camera lady did a lot of singing, jumping up and down, and monkey noises to make me smile. It worked!

I'm happiest when I'm with my Mommy and Daddy!

They also brought some of my favorite toys to help me maximize my cuteness. I think it worked.

After a while, I got pretty cold so they wrapped me in this silly towel to keep me warm, and my smiles returned.

It was all over so fast and was much easier than my first picture taking afternoon at Sears!

Happy Halloween!
I think I'm going to like this Halloween thing. Mommy and Daddy have been dressing me up in silly costumes for the last 2 weeks. It's kinda fun!

Here I am at the punkin patch:
This is the sock monkey costume that Grammy Kilian got me:

Here I am in my dinosaur costume that Daddy and Mommy's friend Heather got me. Dylan is a cowboy. YEE HAW!!!

And here I am in the costume that Mommy got me. I'm a guitar. ROCK ON!!!

I can't wait until next year! I'm going to make Mommy and Daddy dress up, too!

Solids?

So after the 'nana experience Mommy and Daddy got very excited about feeding me "solids". I don't know why they call them that. There's not much "solid" about the goop they give me. Mostly it's just kinda soupy.
But some of it is really yummy and I want more, More, MORE!!!

And some of it... not so much.

There's one thing for sure, though, I LOVE making messes! Gimme some more, please!

Plumbing
Note: Due to the extreme graphic nature of this post, parental supervision is advised.
After we got back from camping, Mommy and Daddy kept feeding me more and more 'nanas. I love them and always want more! However, after a while I started having a bit more trouble with my plumbing. Things were just clogged up and moving a little slower "down there". I didn't think much of it, but Mommy and Daddy and Nanny Bella seemed a little concerned. No worries guys, my tummy was just working overtime on all the new foods!
A few days after we got back I went 4 days without making a mess of a single diaper. Mommy and Daddy were trying their best to get the process moving. It was fun to play bicycle with my legs so much, but nothing seemed to happen.
Then, we went for a walk to meet up with some other Mommy's and Daddy's. We stopped on the way back so Daddy could nap in the breeze on a great day. Mommy and I hung out a little bit.

No way was I going to let Daddy nap on such a beautiful day! There was a loud rumbling in my tummy, and then Mount Riley erupted! Mommy screamed out loud, and then people were running away screaming, birds were dropping to the ground from the stench, and we started to hear emergency sirens going off!

It wasn't 3 minutes later that all these people in funny suits showed up and started putting up all this bright yellow tape. It wasn't so bad - I like yellow!

The guys in the suits were really nice! They said that it would be best if I started wearing this cool sticker on the back of my pants all the time, in case an "accident" like this were to happen again!

JJ's First Birthday
A few weeks ago, Mommy and Daddy packed up nearly everything they owned and headed off on a very long drive to a campsite in Lake Casitas. That's way far away, in Southern California. I had lots of fun traveling in the car with Mommy and Daddy singing to me the whole time. We were going there for a big party for my cousin JJ. Here's JJ with his Mommy and Daddy.
Apparently camping and birthdays mean that we get to eat a lot and have lots of fun, two things I'm particularly good at. I'm glad I was invited! I got to wear my sunhat and meet lots of new people.

My cousin JJ turned 1 year old, which means he got to make a mess of a piece of cake and not get in trouble, which he liked a lot. Everybody was staring and smiling and singing to him, which would freak me out too!
We got to hang out with my Grammy and Grandpa a lot.

Grandpa and Uncle Jason got JJ and I matching outfits! Aren't we awesome?

While we were there, Grammy and Mommy had a conversation that I could tell was about me and food. I kept hearing the word "ready" and "banana" and "why not?", and the next thing I know they were putting something goopy and sweet in my mouth. It was... interesting.

I'm always up for something new, though, and after a little while it actually started tasting really good. More nana, please!
Mommy also started giving me "raspberries", but that wasn't like the nana. She kept trying to put it on the outside of my belly, where I couldn't taste them. Raspberries are weird, they kind of tickle.
At the big party Mommy and Daddy put this funny thing on my head and told me to smile. It was very loud there with lots of other kids and grown ups around. Some of the kids thought these party things were really fun, until my kung-fu action grip broke the toy.

Then they brought the cake out. I had my plate ready, what's with the line??

Not that I needed cake, apparently, as I'm pretty well rounded already. Daddy thinks I look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man. Whoever that is!

I also got to bounce around with Daddy in a bouncehouse, which was pretty crazy and a little scary. I was glad to get back on solid ground. I'm happy enough just looking at grass.

After a long day of partying, we were all pretty tired. It was a little cold outside and I woke up early, so Mommy and Daddy let me sleep in bed with them to stay warm! I was very cozy and snuggly sleeping on Daddy's arm for 3 hours!

Daddy's arm was "asleep" for the rest of the day, but I woke up happy and refreshed, ready to conquer another day!

Camping is becoming one of my favorite activities! Except when they leave me in the tent - let me out, I wanna play!!

I can't wait for my first birthday - I already have my hat ready!

Busy Busy Busy!
Where on earth does the time go? Seems like only yesterday I was just a teeny tiny baby that did nothing but eat, sleep and poop. Well, OK, I still do a alot of those things, but I do other stuff, too.
Mommy got me a mirror to play with when I do tummy time. I think she thinks that it distracts me so I don't realize that I'm on my tummy. She's wrong, of course, but I like the mirror so much that I stay on my tummy for a while. Plus, it makes Mommy happy. When I get bored with the mirror I just flop over onto my back which makes Mommy and Daddy laugh and clap which I don't really understand. What's the big deal?

We also got to go to a puppet show in the park. Mostly Mommy and Daddy stood around taking pictures of me which they do all the time anyway so I don't know why we went to the park to do it. There was one really neat puppet that looked like a doggy. It was a Mary Annette puppet, whatever that means. Seems like they just shoulda called it the doggy puppet.

Mommy and Daddy say its important to have a bedtime routine. We do lots of stuff to get ready for bed at our house. Mommy feeds me and gets me to burp. Then I get to get naked and do one of my all time favorite things: take a bath. Baths are so much fun! I love splashing around in the water and seeing how much stuff I can get wet.

Then I get a massage with some yummy smelling lotion. After that we play a game while they get me dressed in about a million different layers of clothes. Mommy and Daddy call the game "baby wrestling". After that I'm pretty tired from all the wrestling so I get a good night kiss from one of them and the other one reads me a bedtime story. Then I get one more hug and kiss and they put me in my crib with my lovey. I like to suck on the ribbons a while before I fall asleep. I like it best when it's over my face but Mommy doesn't like it when I do that 'cause she thinks I can't breathe. But I can. It's OK, Mommy!

The other day I got to help Mommy open up a package from Great Grandpa Kilian and Florrie. Turned out all the stuff inside was for me! They made me a quilt with somebody named Bart Simpson on it. Mommy says I better not ever behave like Bart but he looks nice enough on my quilt so I'm not sure why. They also made me a thingy that goes into shopping cart seats to make them comfy. It looks like a doggie. I can't wait to try that out just as soon as I can sit up by myself. I'm still practicing that. But the best part about getting presents is playing in the box!
