Camping!

Mommy and Daddy took me to a place called "camping" this past weekend. We lived in a big red box Mommy called the "Tajma-tent" because it was so big. Mommy bought me a funny bed called a pea pod. It was pretty comfy and I slept almost 8 whole hours in it the first night before my tummy started rumbling. One of my favorite parts of the trip was when Mommy and Daddy brought me into their bed. It was fun laying around with them.

When we weren't hanging out in Tajma-tent we were sitting around a dancing light thingy Daddy called a "fire". Mommy and Daddy kept putting me in funny hats depending on what time of day it was. Big floppy hats for the day... warm fuzzy hats for the night. And there was even one with ears... not sure what that was for except to make me feel silly. Here I am in that hat while Mommy reads me a story.

Mommy and Daddy ate these things called s'mores. They looked really good and I can't wait until I have teeth and can try them myself. In addition to the stories that Mommy read me, we went to story time that the camp ground put on. They were funny stories... at least the other kids thought so. I didn't really understand any of them.

Overall the trip was pretty fun. I'm kinda tired and cranky, at least that's what Mommy keeps saying. She says it might be because of the change in my routine or due to my 3 month growth spurt, whatever that means.

Tomorrow Mommy goes back to work. She seems kinda sad and says she doesn't want to leave me, but she knows that Daddy will take good care of me while she's away. I bet we'll have lots of fun!

Why so serious?

I turned 11 weeks old today and celebrated by going to the Mommy and Me group with Daddy AND Mommy today. It was pretty fun to see my pops try to fit in with all the new moms.

The last few days have been a mix of fun and a few not so fun moments. Mommy and Daddy are both home with me these days and we're always on the go doing something. We bought a new couch yesterday to replace the one they are always complaining about. It was fun to be whisked around in the Bjorn for a few hours and bounce on all the couches at the store. I hope they bought one that can be cleaned pretty easily, as I plan on spilling juice and finger paints all over it the first chance i get!

I've also come down with something called "thrush", which is a pretty common thing to get they tell me. It gave me some little white sores in my mouth. To treat it, I get to eat some really yummy orange goo 4 times a day. I look forward to those goo sessions all day!

But, the other part of the treatment is this icky purple glop that Mommy and Daddy give me once a day. This is how it tastes...

It turns my mouth purple for the next 24 hours and makes people look at me funny. Daddy thinks I look like the "Joker", whoever that is.

So, I've been trying to deal with it the best I can. Mommy says I'm good for handling it so well. Little does she know I'm just saving up all my angst for my teen years. Maybe then I'll dye my hair AND my mouth purple!

Tummy Time!

So as I was saying, mommy makes me do this tummy time thing and I don't like it much. Here I am, doing my thing.

Mommy was right, I am getting stronger. I feel pretty good and looking around is kind of cool...

And then my darn head starts to get heavy and I get tired. I won't show you those pictures. They're not pretty.

Today is Daddy's last day at work for a while, he is starting his paternity leave to stay home with me for a few weeks. For the next week or so, I'll have both Mommy and Daddy around to play with. I'll get all kinds of attention.

After that, Mommy will be heading back to work and leaves me home with Daddy. I guess I'll have to put up with his mangled lullaby lyrics and ridiculous faces all day long until Mommy returns to save me :).

I've been having lots of fun going to the sing alongs at the library. The other kids are so off key it is hilarious. Once I get a hang of my vocal system, I'll show them how it's done.

We're going hiking this weekend in my new Baby Bjorn, the one that doesn't break Mommy and Daddy's back. Next week, it's camping!

Life So Far

Gosh, life outside the womb moves fast!

It seems like Mommy is always putting me in the car seat thingy and taking me somewhere. We go running a lot in the park and mostly I just nap through that. We also go to a support group for new babies. I really like staring up at the lights and bouncing on Mommy's lap. I think she enjoys it, too. Sometimes, she takes me to a place called Babies R Us. My favorite part of that place is the "lactation room" where I get to eat after Mommy buys a lot of stuff.

Sometimes Daddy feeds me from a thing called a bottle. He usually has a bottle of his own, but I don't think it has milk in it. I keep thinking he'll share his, but he hasn't so far. Daddy talks to me in funny voices that make me smile. In fact, they both get very silly and giggly when I smile at them. It's pretty funny. They also sing funny songs to me. I like some better than others. Mostly I like ROCK n ROLL on the radio, but I also really like Mommy's "Poopy Butt" song.

So far they've taken me down to visit Grandpa George and that was when I met my cousin JJ, Auntie Wendy and Uncle Jason. JJ is crazy and I bet we'll have a lot of fun together when we get older. Next weekend we're going "camping". I don't know what that means, but Mommy is really excited about it and keeps talking about the "pea pod" they're going to put me in. Then, in June, we're going to Mommy's friend Michelle's wedding. I get to go on my first airplane ride. I have a couple of surprises in store for them, too. Sssshhhhh..... don't tell.

Overall, Mommy and Daddy are doing a pretty good job taking care of me but I can tell that sometimes they're scared that they'll make a mistake. Mostly, they're great, but Mommy makes me do this horrible thing called "tummy time". It's hard and it hurts my neck because my head is so big and heavy. I try to tell her I don't like it but she just keeps doing it and cheering me on and telling me it will help me grow big and strong.

I guess that's a good thing, right?
